Our parish group will meet again on Monday, 30 September at 7:00 pm in the parish center. Anyone who has lost a loved one and is struggling with grief is welcome to attend. During the evening of the 30th we will focus on the subject of Regret. While we have focused on sadness in our past meetings, this time we will focus on a very particular type of sadness which affects many people because of perceived missed opportunities: things we might have said or done while the person that we loved was with us. Come join us for a spiritual exercise in grieving and for friendly fellowship.

We are gearing up for another month dedicated to human life. In October we hold our traditional Baby Bottle Campaign in which you fill baby bottles with coin (or bills) to donate to a local pregnancy resource center which offers alternatives to abortion and faithful support through and beyond pregnancy. Next we will hold a parish Blood Drive on Sunday 20 October with the usual mobile clinic in our parking lot. Lastly, we will once again join in prayerful vigil in Attleboro across from the single remaining abortion clinic in our diocese. Our 40 Days for Life sponsorship day will be Saturday 26 October. October has a few other surprises, so stay tuned!

Bishop Edgar da Cunha has issued a decree that all diocesan permanent deacons now have the option to wear clerical attire when performing ministerial duties such as hospital visits, weddings, baptisms, funerals, etc. Permanent deacons can now wear a clerical collar. The specific color decreed by the bishop for the deacon is “grey” to distinguish him from the diocesan priest who wears black. The deacons may also wear other identifiers such as the deacon lapel pin, especially if the deacon is wearing a suit jacket.
Our Deacon David Pepin has welcomed this opportunity to cloak himself in this new ministerial attire which is put forth to instruct all of us of that the deacon is an ordained minister of the church.

Thank you to all parishioners, parish apostolates, and others who contributed to our Annual Christmas Shoe Drive (2018) for children living in a Rwandan village. This year we raised $4,000 to be used only for the purchase of shoes by Father Leonard Kayondo when he returns home to his country soon. God Bless you all for your generosity!

We want to extend our gratitude to all who came to our parish game show night which raised over $7,000 for our Seminarian/Vocations Fund. Near 70% of the donations came directly from parishioner sponsorship. We are starting to build a small “war chest” for the Lord as we continue to support (from our parish) two seminarians, one deacon candidate, and a postulant religious sister. But financial support would be nothing without spiritual support – so keep praying!

Thank you to all who came out to donate blood on Sunday, 28 October. We had 21 people show up and 15 units donated. Thanks to all parishioners and others who either gave or attempted to in this event… FOR LIFE!
