St. Francis Xavier Parish in Acushnet offers class instruction to those seeking to become Catholic or to those baptized Catholics seeking to fulfill their sacramental life.
The Sacraments of Initiation are Baptism, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation. All three sacraments impart grace, a gift from God to sanctify the soul and strengthen a person for virtue in the everyday march toward eternal life. The Catholic sacraments also initiate the person into the People of God, the visible assembly of the Church, and into the Body of Christ, the mysterious union that Christ has with all His disciples.
Baptized Catholics seeking Holy Eucharist and Confirmation will also return to full reconciliation with God and His Church through the pardoning and healing authority invested in the sacrament of Confession.
Prior to and during the class instruction it is expected that the initiate (catechumen or candidate) will attend the weekend celebration of the Holy Mass. The Mass is the source and summit of all Catholic worship and regular Mass attendance signifies a real dedication of heart and mind to live out a life of faith in Christ Jesus.
If you, or someone you know is seeking a life of grace in the one true Catholic, and Apostolic faith, please contact Fr. Ryan to ask any questions you have and to begin a conversation that will lead you back to the Lord.
