On Wednesday, December 30th we will take our traditional evening pilgrimage to La Salette Shrine in Attleboro to enjoy the Festival of Lights, sing along with Father Pat, visit the gift shop, and enjoy hot apple cider. Most of all there will be opportunity to pray and light candles for those we are praying for. The bus will leave our parking lot at 4pm and return by 8pm. There is a $5 charge for the bus ride. We will have a sign-up after the Masses or please stop by the parish office to save your seat on the bus.
On Sunday, December 20th we will meet on the parish church front steps for our annual Christmas caroling. After caroling, there will be time for fellowship, cookies, and cocoa. See you there!
Our parish apostolate to women presents for all ladies of the parish a special morning of prayer and encouragement on Saturday, December 12th. The morning begins with morning Mass at 9:00am to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe who serves as the patron of the Women of Grace. After Holy Mass the ladies will meet in the parish hospitality room for a talk by Marian Desrosiers, Director of the Prolife Apostolate for the Diocese of Fall River, who has traveled to Mexico and will share her experience of being in the presence of Our Lady. Refreshments will be served and their will be an opportunity to sign up for the 2016 Women of Grace Program that begins in January. Please contact Mrs. Janine Hammarquist at jlh@sfxparish.com for more information about the Women of Grace events.
Tuesday, December 8th is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the day Catholics celebrate the creation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the womb of her mother St. Anne. Catholics believe that Mary was conceived without any sin or the tendency toward sin, her human nature being perfected by God for her singular vocation as the vessel and mother of the divine word, Jesus Christ. A solemnity is a holy day on which all Catholics are obliged to attend Holy Mass with a joyful heart. We will celebrate Mass at 9am on and 7pm on Tuesday, December 8th. Please come and express your devotion to Mary and to worship the Lord who gave her to us.
